In the school subject of physical education, pupils are to have swimming lessons both indoor and outdoor. Through different activities pupils are to learn how to be safe in, by and on water.

The lessons indoors will be in a swimming pool. Boys and girls have lessons together, but change to their swimsuits in separate locker rooms. They take off their clothes and shower in the locker room before they put on their swimsuits. Pupils must have soap, a towel and swimsuit with them (swimming suit/burkini, swim trunks).

Lessons outdoors take place in saltwater or fresh water. Boys and girls have lessons together, but change separately. Swimming gear varies with the seasons.

Through swimming lessons, pupils develop skills in swimming, preventive measures and handling situations by and in water. These are important skills to have when swimming together with friends in their free time.

As a parent, you are important for your child’s learning. Contact the school if you have questions about these lessons.
